Some Books for Survivors

The Army Long Term Family Case Management (ALTFCM) program suggests these books that may help you and your Family.

Helping Teens Work Through Grief, Mary Ke Perschy

Teens who have experienced the death of parent, grandparent, friend or relative often find it difficult to grieve openly. This book is a valuable guide, helping adults connect with grieving teens. The reader will find background information along with many specific activities to help teens reflect upon and talk about their particular concerns.

Grieving Child, Helen Fitzgerald

A primer for parents in helping their children through the process of grief, forward by Elisabeth Ku¨bler-Ross, M.D.

Waking Up Alone: Grief & Healing, Julie K. Cicero, MSW

Whether your loss was sudden or anticipated, your relationship brief or long-term, everyone's experience with grief is different. Recognizing and understanding the varied pathways of grief is crucial to your healing process. As the shock subsides and the healing begins, it is imperative for survivors to identify their emotions and reactions as well as the actions of those around them. The often-noted inability of friends, family and society to deal with death and dying is confusing and hurtful, and at times can interfere with the ability to assimilate your loss.
